Nanohana is the name used in Japan for rapeseed flowers. The oil that gives body to the "NANOHANA" candles is extracted from them.

When they are in bloom, rapeseed plants produce small, bright yellow flowers.

On the island of Noto, just off the coast of the city of Nanao, where Japanese Takazawa candles are produced, this plant is grown.

Thus, when the ships that are fishing at sea see a yellow spot in the distance, they know that they will soon arrive in port, at home.

The wick, hand-made from washi paper and dried reed, is hollow. As a result, oxygen can rise inside the candle, and the flame that is produced is larger and brighter than usual.

You will find these candles in a yellow vanilla box, which reminds us of their origin.

The Japanese firm Takazawa has been transforming the gifts that plants give us into Japanese candles to illuminate our best moments for over a century.

When you give away one of their candles, you are not giving away an object, but time, the moments lived in the light of that candle.

That's why we tell you how long each one lasts, so that you can decide whether to give a coffee with a friend, a relaxing bath, a quiet reading, or a family dinner.

The duration of the NANOHANA candles, about 55 minutes, makes them perfect for a yoga or meditation session, a meeting to have a coffee or tea with friends or a time dedicated to your favourite reading or music.

They come in a box with clean, simple lines, with a touch of naïf, in vanilla-coloured cardboard.
