Japanese fabric. Flying Cranes and clouds in cherry red.
Japanese 100% cotton fabric. Motif of cranes (tsuru) in flight, outlined in gold, with clouds (kumo) and waves (seigaiha), on a cherry red background.
The motif traced in the clouds, called "kagome", is a basket weaving motif. It is considered auspicious because it is supposed to have the power to act as a barrier against demons, evil, and any misfortune.
In addition, we find Seigaihas, waves of the sea, drawn in gold, which represent the swaying of life's circumstances.
