In addition, in the decoration of this beautiful fabric we find two other elements that take us back to ancient times, used by the nobility and the upper classes:
- Kuruma: a two-wheeled cart, which was used for transport.
- Hokkai-bako: a lacquered storage box. They used to be hexagonal or octagonal and were used, as early as the Heian era (794-1192), to store Kaiawase games. In this traditional game of the upper classes of Japanese society, the aim was to match delicately decorated shells. It was common for one of the shells in the pair to have, for example, a poem, and the other an illustration that corresponded to that poem.
