Japanese fabric "Kuro neko to tsubaki", with motif of small black cats playing among camellias in red and pink. Background in natural white.

The cat (neko) is a very common pattern in Japanese fabrics. The Japanese are cat lovers, to the point that in many Japanese cities, you can visit "cat cafés", or "neko-cafés", where you can not only drink coffee or tea with sweets, but also pet a cute little cat.

Camellias, on the other hand, are winter flowers, which fall whole when they fade, instead of losing their petals little by little. As petals and sepals fall together, it is considered a symbol of the union of lovers beyond death.
