The maneki neko, also known as the fortune cat will bring luck or fortune to the house of its owners. A paper to express our good wishes.
According to legend, in a temple almost in ruins close to Tokyo, lived a very poor priest with his cat, Tama. During the feudal era, an important lord, called Naotaka was hunting and got surprised by rain, so he ran to take shelter under a tree close to the temple. From his refuge, the Lord looked towards the temple at the open door where he saw the white, black and brown cat that was making signs like calling him. Curious, he left his shelter and ran towards where the cat was calling him, and then a huge lightning bolt fell on the tree, destroying the place he had sheltered before.

The story says that the rich man became friends with the monk, financed the necessary repairs to the temple and so it prospered, so the monk and his cat never felt hungry again. Once Tama passed, the maneki neko was created in her honor.

The washi paper made of long fibers is very flexible and resistant. It is machine made with kozo and sulfite fibers. Silk-screen printed later by hand in so many steps with colors.
Due to the production techniques, the full planks of washi chiyogami paper (of 97cmx65cm) have a frame of approximately 1cm in white. The specified dimensions refer to the printed part. The measurements as well as the weight are approximated, since they can lightly vary from one provider to another.
