Red Chiyogami Japanese paper with carp (koi) drawings over a yellow background. The red carps represent courage and bravery from a legend of 360 carps that for 100 years decided to fight with all their might against the stream, instead of giving up against the river stream. In the face of their insistence and despite that the gods placed many upon them, they managed to give the definitive jump over the last waterfall (The Dragon’s Gate). As a reward, the gods finally decided to transform this first carp into a Dragon… Can you find the 360 in this precious paper?

The washi paper made of long fibers is very flexible and resistant. It is machine made with kozo and sulfite fibers. Silk-screen printed later by hand in so many steps with colors.
Due to the production techniques, the full planks of washi chiyogami paper (of 97cmx65cm) have a frame of approximately 1cm in white. The specified dimensions refer to the printed part. The measurements as well as the weight are approximated, since they can lightly vary from one provider to another.
