Creative Kokeshi Usaburo "Akako" with red kimono and obi
Creative Kokeshi Usaburo "Akako" with red kimono and obi. 13 cm.
Creative kokeshi doll carved in wood. Hand-carved by the Usaburo family, dedicated to this art for several generations, in Gunma Prefecture.
Her name, Akako, means "red girl".
She wears a red kimono decorated with cherry blossoms. Cherry blossoms bloom in spring, in just a few days, and transform cities with a beautiful display of trees, still without leaves, covered with pale pink blossoms. This is what is known in Japan as "Hanami".
The cherry blossoms represent the beauty of the ephemeral.
He also wears an obi, on which a stream of flowing water has been depicted.
The lines, the signature of the family of craftsmen and the motif, have been drawn using the pyrography technique, which gives texture to the surface of the wood.

Avoid placing your kokeshi in the vicinity of windows or shelves that are directly illuminated by the sun, as direct sunlight can cause the fading of the kokeshi's colours over time. Likewise, you should avoid getting it wet, or placing it in humid places or places with a lot of condensation, or sudden changes in temperature.
